Certification process needed for existing skills?
Is it necessary to update an existing skill if it already has one of the four featured tools? If so, is it necessary to pass again the certification process for that skill that existed prior to the start of the Submission Period? If I just want to add APL or APLA, it is just a modification in my Lambda function so it does not require being certificated again. Can I submit my skill to the hackathon having passed the certification process before Submission Period?

Hey Clara!
Thanks for reaching out. Yes, updated skills must use a new feature for the purposes of this hackathon, though it's great that you're already using one.
Skills can be submitted and certified before the competition deadline (we'd love if everyone did that) so feel free.
Thanks!

Sorry, but I have the same question, and the answer is not clear for me: if the lambda update is sufficient, do we have to have a re-certification DURING the competition ? If it has been certified before the beginning of the competition will it be taken into account anyway ?
I fear there is an automatic filtering in first eligibility steps that would be "exclude any skill not certified during the competition" (to try detectIng not updated skills).

Hey Guillaume,
Any update you make during the submission period needs to be significant enough that it requires being recertified. Otherwise, it would not be significantly updated and would not pass the check as you mentioned.
My strong recommendation is that you significantly update the skill to use one of the other four featured tools or add substantially new functionality in some way. Our validation check covers: 1) use of at least one of the featured tools and 2) passed certification at some point between the start of the contest Sep. 24 to the end of the additional certification period Dec. 11th.
Did that help? If either of you have more specific questions about your skills that you don't want to post on the forum, feel free to email me at stefanie@devpost.com.
Thanks!

When having a strongly dynamic skill, the skill behavior can be completely changed/improved without having to re-pass the certification: the certification is needed only when we need to update the sentences models (I don't remember the official name for that), while my skill has a sentences model sufficiently open to allow me changing the full game, or even adding new games in the game without having to touch this model. Even adding the APLA feature (which is not used in the current version) does not need a new Amazon certification (as stated by Clara in his initial post).
So, as I clearly see that it's not evident for non technical people, I will resubmit just to avoid being skipped by the process. (After updating the skill with one of the 4 new features of course).
Thanks for the feedback.
